So this post would teach you two techniques in doing keyword research which is using a keyword tracker and using the Google Adwords tool.
What if your client site sells baseball bats, so go to http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/ and put baseball bats and check keywords that have the most number of searches per day.
As you can see, baseball bats and baseball bat are the keywords that are related to baseball bat having the most number of searches per day. SO easy right? hahaha but most people don't know how to do it. The next thing to do is to check it using Google Adwords tool. As you can see you will see better results using Google AdWords tool but the results are almost the same. You will see that baseball bats have the most number of searches per day.
